This is in response to a very hurtful comment to “My Testimony“ [you can read it if you’d like. It’s on 3 pages above]. If you would like to read the comment itself, I copied it into the “comment” section of this post. It’s under my name [author’s name is to remain anonymous] and posted on 1-13-13. The comment has the title:
THIS IS THE COMMENT TO “MY TESTIMONY’ THAT I RESPONDED TO IN THIS POST
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I’m alcoholic. Very alcoholic. A “fifth-of-hard-liquor-a-day at 25 years old” type of alcoholic.
And I was in a horrendous place when I first met Jesus.
I was sober two years but was seeing the bottle loom large in front of me again and I knew that drinking was sure to come in short order if something didn’t happen to stop it.
But I was in an emotional vice grip. In so much stress and pressure I thought my head was going to pop off at any second. It’s like I was living in a filthy, dirty shack – emotionally, mentally, spiritually…. I was filthy dirty, living in a filthy, dirty, shack.
All I want to say in this post is that, it doesn’t matter how shabby the shack you live in is; how much it is in disarray; how untidy it is; how much of a wreck it is; how dirty it is. This is not about your Aunt Dottie or Uncle Dave. ……….. this is Jesus.
Don’t wait.
Don’t wait until you are ready to pray the formal prayer that you’re supposed to pray when you invite Jesus into your shack. He will come.
Don’t keep your door mostly closed in fear that He will be disgusted with, or judgmental of, how you present yourself. He doesn’t care how you invite Him in. Take my word for it. He won’t mind – at all.
I know this from experience. He will love you – for exactly who and what you are.
My shack was just about as disgusting as it could be when I invited Him into it. And I was just about as disgusting as I could be too. And I had the manners of a baboon.
But I needed help. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I knew I needed a great deal of help.
So I flung my door open for Him to come into my shack. I didn’t say the “sinner’s prayer”. I was too messed up to say the sinners prayer. I didn’t even know that there was a sinners prayer. So I asked Him to come in, in the only way I knew how.
And that was ok.
And He came in.
And you know what? All He did was hug me and tell me how glad He was to be invited in.
How do I know this is Jesus, and not some satanic demon? I know satanic demons. I lived in a house full of them when I was growing up. They’re horrible, and their only delight is to see you suffer; so that you’ll throw negativity around this planet so everyone else will suffer too.
But Jesus is different. Very slowly; gently; kindly; lovingly; patiently; He’s helping me turn my dirty little shack into a beautiful, loving home. One in which I try to invite as many other shack-dwellers into as will come.

Those who have read some of my posts will attest to the fact that I am overcoming. In the power of God through Jesus Christ, I am truly overcoming.

You have already overcome, my dear sister in Christ. You ARE an Overcomer. This life in Jesus is about Transformation – not perfection. We all fall short. He came for the sick, not the well. We are blessed to have had a dirty shack once and the joy is beyond comprehension that we have a beautiful home now and a mansion waiting in Heaven. My filthy dirty shack was composed of bricks of: Morphine…Hydrocodone…Methadone…Soma…Valium…Ativan…Codeine…Fentanyl…Oxycontin…Dilaudid…Fiorinal…Percocet…and more – ALL each and every day! I was actually a Christian during my former Addiction’s Reign of Terror on my life.
As far as the ”sinner’s prayer” goes, it’s a condition of the heart…NOT a specified man made prayer! Some say the ‘prayer’ and never are saved; others have a change in their heart’s condition and are saved throughout eternity!
Let’s do coffee in heaven…what do you say?
Love forever,
Dina

Hi Dina,
Ahhh! I can’t wait to do coffee with you!
Thank you sooo much for the vote of confidence. After that coal-raking I received for my testimony, I was a little shaken up.
WOW!! Did you really do A LOT of drugs!!! I didn’t know it was that bad for you. That’s really bad! But now you’re clean! Clean as snow. And I LOVE IT!!! You have quite a testimony.
love to you my buddy,
robin

That ‘shake up’ is the enemy trying to take you down. Don’t give him that kind of permission. That’s why you have so many precious friends here on your blog. Yes…I did ALL those drugs plus alcohol. Not one of my doctors who tended to me in intensive care, on my death bed, believe that I’m really alive! They all called me a ‘ghost’. One doctor who treated me in out patient recovery told me that he had never seen such a bad case of addiction…much less one who survived it. I began with alcohol at 11 years old and it escalated to where I was in 2007…in a coma and dying. All of my organs had failed and I as expected to die. In came Jesus for THE RESCUE. He had overwhelming mercy on me. That’s why I do what I do – I Rescue others as He did me.
Stay strong! You’re amazing!

Dina,
We are sooo alike, you and me. I’m so glad to have you on my side of the court. You with your bazillion drugs & booze; me with my fifth a day.
love you

Jesus is blessed by your words Robin! You have exalted Him and lifted Him to the High place He deserves with your truthful words about Him. So many just don’t understand His willingness to love us, just as we are. You explain His heart as only one could do, that truly has experienced His love, forgiveness and grace. You have blessed me as well…love you…Donna

Hi Donna,
Thank you for such sweet words. I appreciate them soooo much! Jesus is the only one who can hold me together. Because of how I was before I knew Him, this I know to my bones.

Our Robin is precious, isn’t she? She has the right ‘take’ on God and understands His Heart.
Donna said:
Yes, she is! So many speak of Jesus without experiencing Him…fruitless endeavor. It is those like Robin who know just how good He is because of a life changing encounters and a personal relationship with Him. Those testimonies bear much fruit for His glory! God is using Robin to reveal His True Heart.

Amen, Donna! We’re blessed to know her sweet spirit and her raw honesty that helps us all on our Holy Road to Heaven.

Hey Robin! Been pretty busy. The Lord moved my wife and I to Redding CA quite miraculously and everything happened so fast. So now we are here waiting to see what God has in store. I don’t have internet yet at our new place so my online time is limited. I’ll be getting back on here to blog some more before too long. How have you been? Love you too and hope you are doing awesome!

Hi Justin,
Congratulations and lots of luck in your new move. It’s nice to hear from you again. Hope to hear from you soon in a post or two. Tell us all how the new move is going for you.
I am doing ok. I just wrote a post about my mother-in-law who lives with us. I’m in a kind of “frustrated-with-her” place right now. I just wrote another post on this called: Dealing with the Spirit of Non-Cooperation. Talk to you soon again I hope.
Love to you my buddy,

Robin, you so beautifully described the simple yet wonderfully powerful Jesus I know. He just wants US…He’s not surprised by our ‘dirty shacks’ as you so clearly described. He knows everything and He still wants us.
I’m so glad you invited Him in and that you’ve allowed Him to love changes into you. It’s all about His love. His love changes us. Once we’ve fallen into His embrace, He can’t help but to change us.

That’s exactly right Lori! His love – heals!!!

The dirty shack is a brilliant analogy! Might as well be honest with Jesus. It’s not like He doesn’t already know you. I love that your blog is candid and straight forward.

Hi Robin , just a quick note to let you know I have not forgotten you, I have been sorting out our e-mail addresses.
Very True what you shared, God does indeed Love us the way He finds us but He also tells us He Loves us too much to let us stay that way and if we Love Him we don’t want to either. God tells us we are to aim to be perfected in His Love ( see below).
Colossians 3:1-17 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Have you ever had someone break your heart Robin, shatter it to pieces and keep doing it, that is what many do to God, thankfully we have been delivered, we are no longer addicted to gambling or Alcohol. God tells us to reckon ourselves dead to sin and this includes addiction because what we think, so we are and our actions follow or we fear they will and that is bondage, it’s insecurity and fear but how wonderful Jesus set us free! (see below )
1 John4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.
I’m just going to have a read of another one of your posts Robin today but I will return perhaps tomorrow.

Hi Anne,
God is turning my shack into a loving home where I try to invite others into, if they would like. This is my analogy to becoming perfected in Christ.

Hi Robin. Sorry you’ve had a bit of insensitive stuff. The internet breeds this, I think! How would they know anything about you anyway? Only the Lord knows you inside and out, and loves you more than anyone can imagine. And the Lord will guide you through, if you call on him. God bless

Hi Heather [I’m hoping I got your name right],
I’m sort of getting used to the atheist view-point I guess. At first it hit me really hard – how they’d dismiss all my experiences with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit – as hallucinations!
I’m working on getting a tougher hide in this area. If I am to put my work out there for all to read, I have to expect that some will take offense, and such like that.
Thank you for all your kindnesses,
robin

Jesus came to clean the dirty, not the clean, right? I too have been dumped on by neo-atheists, but in the end it is more sad than painful. If someone closes their eyes and sticks their fingers in their ears they may avoid my faith, but not Jesus!

Amen to you my bother.
I will do my best to think of them in this way. It would be better than what I’ve been doing.

THIS IS THE COMMENT TO “MY TESTIMONY’ THAT I RESPONDED TO IN THIS POST
Sobriety would not be adequate evidence of being saved or that this experience was of God. Many have overcome addiction using false gods, mankind’s methods and theories, along the way achieving all kinds of remarkable things. There are muslims, Buddhists and hindus who will attest to similar experiences as recorded here. The Bible teaches that the devil disguises himself as an angel of light, he is the father of lies and will give us whatever we need, including sobriety, a job and a marriage, if it keeps us from being grafted into the vine and sealed by the blood of the lamb.
I believe Robin Claire had a vision that was not a figment of her imagination. It is great imagery and if God chose to lead her to the Cross, and show her the Gospel by that method then he is at liberty to do so. After all he flooded the whole earth, parted the Red Sea, poured asphalt down from heaven on Sodom and Gomorra and poured out his Wrath on His own Son! What is missing from her story is deep brokenness from conviction for her sin. What comes across mostly is sorrow, and grief for ‘messing up’, and hopelessness in her situation. This is a sadness and sorrow but not necessarily repentance. 1 Corinthians 7 says, ‘For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death’. I would commend the whole of the chapter.
I don’t know Claire’s heart, God is her judge and witness. However, while this is an interesting story it doesn’t tell us if she has been growing in holiness since 1982. If she is claiming to be born again, a new creation in Christ has she been growing in holiness, reading her Bible everyday, and bringing forth good fruit? I am sharing this word of caution because I live in the British city of Bristol surrounded by ‘New Ageism’, spiritualism and and all kinds of pagan idolatry. My chanting, meditating transcendent neighbours who commune with natural spirits would be at home with Claire’s story. Who they reject and hate is Jesus Christ. They have hard hearts and pour scorn on the Word of God.
Claire’s story is not saturated with the liberating Gospel of Christ; conviction for sin, Him taking the punishment I rightly deserve, His conquering of sin, death and hell, His gift of washing my sins away by His precious blood if I would repent from my sin, and put my faith and trust in him. We must be our guard to identify false converts and when we meet them share the wonderful news of Jesus Christ atoning sacrifice, that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. God’s Word is sufficient. Amen?

Robin…….Whoever this nut job is, they evidently think that they are God so we know this dreg is aligned with Satan. This person really needs to get saved and then get a life. There is absolutely no understanding of God or the Bible…not even a little. This person is speaks of ‘another gospel’…probably their own. We’re in apostate times when the anti-christ will soon come into power. This is one of the spirits of anti-christ who has the agenda to destroy and disillusion believers who are STRONG – like YOU!
Honey…feel empowered right now by this enemy attack. If you weren’t doing such AWESOME work for God (ie: your totally inspirational writing), then the enemy wouldn’t be bugging you like this. Consider this troubled person’s lying piece of junk letter as the garbage that it is. Meanwhile, my sister…Blog on for Jesus!!!!!!! Don’t change a ‘thang’, ok?
robin claire said:
Hi Dina,
You are right. I have to see this as a satanic attack and not be taken in by it as though it is the voice of authority. I’m very weak when it comes to “authority figures” because of growing up with such a powerful one. But, you’re right. And I will continue to tell my truth. The Bible says that if I speak out for Christ, the “world” will hate me. As I continue to blog, I’m finding out that this is turning out to be true. Oh well. It can’t be helped. Thank you sooo much for your emotional and spiritual support.
I love you so much,
robin
